Forgiveness

Every time I try and write to you
The tears just fill these eyes,
So I'm going to try just one more time
To mend these family ties.

Deep inside this heart of mine
There's a guilt that's killing me,
All because we quarreled
Over something I couldn't see.

How do I say I'm sorry
Or I was wrong in what I said?
How do I take back all those words
To clear this conscience in my head?

I don't want to lose this friendship
That took a lifetime for us to bond,
How do I get your forgiveness
For I don't have a magic wand.

So from the bottom of this broken heart
For I know I broke yours too,
Let me try and make it up
By truly saying, "I love you"

Please come back into my life
Because I want to make it right,
If you only allow me one more chance

So please don't let this friendship
Come to a bitter end,
Please accept my apologies
Because you are my best friend.
